South Africa will launch an investigation into recruitment by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant in the country, after an Al Jazeera investigation revealed that at least 23 South Africans had joined the group, the Ministry of State Security has said. Brian Dube, spokesperson for State Security, said on Saturday that the ministry would be looking into the findings made in an Al Jazeera investigation published on Friday that entire families had travelled to ISIL-held territory. Leader of the Ijaw Youth Council, Mr. Asari Dokubo, has condemned the amnesty granted to the ex-Niger Delta militants by the late president, Umaru Yar’adua. According to him, this was a bribe to allow oil flow from the Niger Delta region to the North. He said that was the reason he rejected the offer. Two abducted cousins of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience Egbeni and Kate Eni, will be missing in action as the former President returns home. Nine days after their abduction by six gunmen in military uniform, Patience and Eni are still held hostage by their abductors. Lovers visiting Paris will soon have to find a new way of expressing their affections now that the city has decided to remove locks from its famed Pont des Arts aka "Love Lock" bridge. For years, couples touring the city of love have written their names on locks, blanketed Paris' bridge with them and thrown away the keys. The popular trend symbolizes undying feelings. However, officials say thousands of locks have become safety hazards and that city hall workers will begin removing locks from Pont des Arts bridge on Monday. "This phenomenon generates two problems: a lasting degradation of the heritage of Paris and also a risk to the safety of visitors, Parisians and tourists," city hall said in a statement. Part of the Pont des Arts bridge collapsed under the weight of the locks last year, BBC News reports. President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday said he had not directed any government agency to stop anybody, including officials of past administrations, from travelling abroad. He said former government officials, including ministers, were entitled to their full rights and privileges under the nation’s Constitution. He therefore warned that they must not be subjected to any undue harassment and intimidation at the airports or at other points of entry and exit. The new Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, on Saturday dissolved the state executive council. Ganduje, who made the announcement through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Rabiu Bichi, also relieved all political office holders of their appointments. The dissolution affected all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants. The governor commended the officers for their various contributions to the development of the state. The sacked commissioners were directed to hand over the affairs of their ministries to their respective permanent secretaries.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have declared their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau  as required by the Constitution. Robots like the Mars Rover can operate on their own in harsh environments, and new research shows they could get even more self-sufficient by coming up with ways to adapt and keep moving after an injury. The work is the subject of a study, published today in Nature, by researchers at Pierre and Marie Curie University in France and the University of Wyoming. The idea is that if robots are going to take on dangerous, difficult jobs, then they are going to have to cope with broken parts and injuries while out of reach of a human repair crew. The mice in the study were given a drug that prevented them from consolidating a fearful memory. The FA Cup will be known as The Emirates FA Cup from next season The FA Cup will be rebranded as The Emirates FA Cup after the Football Association signed a three-year contract with the Dubai-based airline. The deal, which starts next season and runs until 2018, means Emirates become the first title sponsor of football's oldest knockout competition. "The partnership will help take the tournament to new audiences," FA chairman Greg Dyke said. Budweiser ended its three-year association with the FA Cup last year. Budweiser's deal with the FA was styled as "in association with", but the new agreement with Emirates sees the 144-year-old competition get a title sponsor for the first time. Zimbabwe’s Constitutional Court has outlawed the arrest of women on charges of soliciting for sex in the absence of confirmation from men that they were offered the services for a fee, local media reported Saturday. The court made the ruling Wednesday in an application by nine women who were contesting their arrest. The women were arrested in Harare in March 2014 during an operation by police code-named “No to Robberies and Prostitution.” The court declared the arrest and prosecution unconstitutional. But while getting to move around the Aso Rock Villa with his security escort, Korede made a mistake while shoing respect to the country’s past leaders.
