    Phyno’s ‘Fada fada’ featuring Olamide takes on number 1 spot for fifth week in a row, while Kiss Daniel’s ‘Mama’ maintains the number 2 spot on chart. Veteran Nigerian musician and producer OJB Jezreel dies at 49

Very sad news this morning! Talented singer, songwriter and producer Babatunde Okungbowa popularly known as OJB Jezreel has died. The music maestro, who was flown for a Kidney transplant in India in 2013 and was said to be doing well, had a relapse about two weeks ago and was kept on daily dialysis before his urgent need for oxygen yesterday. Unfortunately, he didn't make it. He died early this morning June 14th at Isolo General Hospital in Lagos.

6 year-old girl burnt to death in a church in Lagos

The Lagos State Fire Service said a six-year-old girl was burnt to death in a church in the early hours of Saturday in Egbeda area of the state. The Director of the service, Mr Rasak Fadipe, said that the incident occurred at about 02:00 at Faith Revival Church. Fadipe said that the inferno affected the boys’ quarters of the church while a vigil was going on at the main auditorium.

HIV-positive man accused of sexually abusing 12 year old girl

  Two men have been arrested and paraded over the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Minna, Niger State. According to a Naij report, the suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwachukwu (52) and Chinedu Andrew (22), have since denied that they raped the girl, instead insisting that she knowingly had consensual sex with them. One of the suspects, Nwachukwu, is admittedly HIV-positive but claims that he did not have knowledge of his status until prior to his sexual engagement with the girl.

Corruption: List of some of the sacked senior army officers

  A list of some of the senior officers who were allegedly sacked by the Nigerian army for being linked to corruption has been published by Sahara Reporters . Reports on Saturday indicated that dozens of army officers were sent packing on Friday in a move to rid the armed forces of corruption. The senior officers were accused of corruption and the theft of billions of dollars meant to buy arms to fight the Boko Haram Islamic insurgency. Some had already been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The Cable quoted Sani Usman, a colonel and army spokesperson as saying the compulsory retirement was based on "service exigencies".

Los Angeles - Will Smith was stunned by the "outpouring of love" during Muhammad Ali's funeral procession. The 47-year-old actor - who served as a pallbearer for the late boxing legend's coffin - learned a "valuable lesson" while driving through the streets of Louisville, Kentucky on Friday and seeing how much people adored the sportsman, who died aged 74 on 3 June.
