HIV-positive man accused of sexually abusing 12 year old girl

Two men have been arrested and paraded over the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in Minna, Niger State.
According to a Naij report, the suspects, identified as Emmanuel Nwachukwu (52) and Chinedu Andrew (22), have since denied that they raped the girl, instead insisting that she knowingly had consensual sex with them.
One of the suspects, Nwachukwu, is admittedly HIV-positive but claims that he did not have knowledge of his status until prior to his sexual engagement with the girl.

"I have tested positive to HIV/AIDS, but before the test was conducted, I did not know I had the virus. I didn’t rape the girl, I made love with her. She told me she was about 15 years old, one afternoon in November 2015, she came to my residence when I lay on my bed.
She climbed the bed and was touching me. I asked what her problem was because I saw her as a young girl, but she responded that I would not understand. She kept on playing with me and when I could no longer hold myself, I made love to her," the suspect stated.
The second suspect, Andrew, has claimed that he was in a romantic relationship with the girl but had knowledge of her contact with Emmanuel.
DSP Bala Elkana, PR Officer for the State Police, has since claimed that the girl's HIV status would not be revealed and that the two men will be charged to court as soon as investigations into the matter are concluded.
