Lesbian Mother Flees Nigeria Over Anti-gay Law

A NIGERIAN mother, who has been practising lesbianism discreetly, has allegedly fled the country to an unknown destination following fierce criticism from her friends and family.

Ms Oyelola Olubunmi Aremu reportedly fled Nigeria after the Federal Government passed a law banning the practice of gayism and lesbianism as well as its association in Nigeria.

According to a source close to the family, Aremu, despite having children, fled Nigeria because her family and friends criticised and even alienated her because of her sexual preference.

“No one knows where she is right now. The pressure was too much for her and she fled without a clue,” the source said.

Speaking further, the source close to the family of the woman, added: “Her actions were without doubt caused by the reaction of her family, friends and of course the authority.

“The persecution she will face from the authority and anti-gay family members.”

It would be recalled that immediate-past Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, signed a bill in 2014 criminalising same-sex relationships, defying pressure from western governments to respect gay and lesbian rights.

The bill, which contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison and bans gay marriage, same-sex “amorous relationships” and membership of gay rights groups, was earlier passed by the National Assembly.
