Sepp Blatter Resigned as FIFA president

President of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Sepp Blatter, has offered to step down from his position.

He made the annoncement on Tuesday at a high-level press conference of FIFA officials at the organisation’s headquarters, calling for an extraordibary congress to elect his successor.

The head of the world football body had won re-election last week despite the corruption scandal and subsequent arrests of FIFA officials recently.

The organisation is still enmeshed in a crisis of confidence as investigations continue into corruption charges and allegations of bribe-taking, especially in the award of the World Cup hosting rights.

Sale of dried meat banned in Maiduguri
