Phyno, who’s real name is Chibuzo Nelson Azubuike started his career back in 2003 as a producer. As a producer, he has worked with artists such as Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J Martins and Mr Raw. Phyno became a popular Igbo rapper with millions of fans. In less than three years of his debut in the industry as a rap artist, Phyno has been everywhere. But let’s take a look at something about Phyno you didn’t know:

  1. ‘Phyno’ Is A School Nickname: As a teenager Phyno liked to
    stand out and one day his friend Emeka called him ‘phenomenal’. In one of the interviews Phyno
    admitted that it was the first time he heard that word. In time Emeka started calling him phyno
    and that was how the name stuck to the rapper.
  2. He Wanted To Be A Pilot: Music hasn’t always been what he wanted to do in life. As a kid he wanted to become a pilot! Can you imagine him and his crazy hairdo operating a plane? This would be interesting, but in that case we wouldn’t ever hear “Ghost Mode” so let’s thank Chibuzo that he gave up that dream.
  3. Phyno Was Involved In A Scandal: Back in 2014 has been alleged to have joined the league of Nigerian celebrities with children out of wedlock. It is also being alleged that his alleged lover, Rita Edmond, was carrying his baby. Phyno’s reaction has been quite obvious: “Believe it or not, I’ve never met or spoken to anyone by that name.

The Phyno you are seeing is the artiste, Chibuzo is a regular guy. Chibuzo is the guy that wants to be alone; Phyno is the crazy guy, Phyno has his sane times.”
  10. His Contradicting New Hairstyle: A few weeks ago, Phyno changed his nique hairstyle, one that sets him apart from the rest of the industry showstoppers. Meanwhile, a long time ago, Phyno once said Nothing will ever make him change his hairstyle. He stated: “Someone has actually begged me with a hundred thousand to have it cut. But nothing can make me cut it. It’s my identity, I’m a Rastafarian. I believe in living natural, the way God made me. I feel naked without my dreadlocks. When I was younger, my mum used to cut my hair and I used to feel so shy and naked. It gives me a lot of confidence”

Sale of dried meat banned in Maiduguri
