AMVCA 2016: Stephanie Okere dedicates award to Ese Oruru

 
Film maker and actress Stephanie Linus, whose film won Best film in Africa at the African Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards(AMVCA) on Saturday, dedicated the award to Ese Oruru,  every child bride and vulnerable individual in Nigeria.
The actress said this while collecting the award for Best Overall Movie(Africa) on stage with some members of her cast and crew.
The story of the film, titled Dry is based on the infamous child-bride situation that is common in the Northern part of Nigeria.
 14-year-old, Ese Oruru was in the news recently when she was kidnapped from Bayelsa and taken to Kano, in Northern Nigeria by 20- year old Yinusa, who impregnanted her and was about to marry her, before the Nigerian Police arrested him.

Sale of dried meat banned in Maiduguri

  he Borno Government on Friday banned the sale of dried meat in order to curtail the activities of Boko Haram terrorists currently engaged in cattle rusting to fund their operations. Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno announced the ban at the inauguration of a committee for the management of the Maiduguri Cattle Market in Maiduguri.
